Theatre Tartaar, a Belgian theatre company for adults with learning disabilities, evolved from being a leisure activity outside working hours, inside an institution (Home Zonnelied), to a full time professional working theatre studio.

Trough an obstinate theatre method, based on our own view of modern theatre theories, on movement pedagogic and ideas about acting for people with mental disabilities, during two years, we experiment with dramatic forms of expression and create performances that are played in theatres and cultural centres in Belgium and abroad.

The increasing number of theatre performances, the growing quality of these performances, the continual request of other groups to give them drama workshops and theatre training, and the request of our own actors to have their own theatre, started a growing process to develop an independent functioning theatre facility.

Theatre Tartaar works together with cultural centre De Ploter for technical support, cultural spreading and bringing in a public.
Theatre Tartaar and training school Arch'educ organise theatre and drama training for the actors.
